- Video with no sound

I tried everything that came to me to try and fix the audio issue with Netflix, but the sound never went back to normal. I went online to research why this had happened and how I could get the app fixed, and after several hours of reading through support documentation and forum posts, I had enough idea about how the app worked.

If your Netflix app has no sound, try checking your internet connection and make sure you have the right output device selected. The Netflix app requires it to connect to its servers to get content to your device, but this server can go down because of routine maintenance or unscheduled downtime. This can cause the audio stream on the movie or show that you were watching to stop playing or otherwise drop out, so check whether Netflix servers are running when you get the audio issue.

If Netflix servers are up and running like normal, the audio issue might not be related, and something else might have caused it. If it were down, wait until the servers come back online and check if you resolved the audio issue.

Some TVs turn off the built-in TV speakers when external speakers are active, and if the audio is set to output through the TV speakers, no audio will be produced. Usually, turning off Bluetooth is enough to disconnect all Bluetooth devices, but just to be sure, unpair the audio device as well.

The Netflix app uses a player to stream movies and videos to your device, and it has its own audio settings that decide what type of audio is streamed to your device. Out of sync audio is mostly common when using a sounder or other external speakers.

This is because the audio signal from the TV needs to be decoded by the speaker before the sound comes out. With better quality sound, these signals can sometimes be more complicated than the speaker can handle, causing delays.

These delays can often be fixed by altering the audio settings on your TV. If there is a delay when using the TV speakers, this is more likely to be an error within your TV. For this reason, it is best to reset the TV to clear any errors that may have caused the issue.

I will outline two ways to reset your TV below. Selecting one of these settings will allow you to send a signal that is easier to decode, and therefore quicker to play through the speakers. This should fix audio delay, but you may also be experiencing a delay from other audio settings on your Smart TV. The more functions you use, the more complicated the signal will be. As a baseline, you could try returning the audio settings back to their factory presets.

This option should be in the same menu as these other audio settings. Not all TVs will have this function, but this will offset the sound or video by increments so that you can match them up once again. Unfortunately, most TVs will only allow this shift in one direction, delaying the audio even more.

However, if your TV allows you to shift this delay in both directions, you will be able to counteract the audio delay between the TV and the external speaker. Performing a hard reset on your Smart TV will completely discharge the TV, allowing it to fully reset. This process clears any errors that may have occurred internally, affecting the audio output.

To perform a hard reset, follow the steps below. Step 1: Unplug your Smart TV from its power source. Step 2: Disconnect all devices from the TV. Is this an issue with Netflix or an issue with my equipment? I am using Roku and sometimes my Xbox or Playstation to watch Netflix. Do you know what I have to do to get Netflix to get sound? I have the same issue sometimes with all 3 of the devices I mentioned when trying to stream.

If your streaming device is connected directly to the TV you may not be getting sound from Netflix because you are trying to stream in surround sound 5. Some movies or TV shows streamed from Netflix do not stream the proper audio output for the audio selection you are using, therfore you cannot hear the sound. You will need to go into the audio settings of the device you are using and change the surround sound to anything but 5. Try using a non 5. This should fix the issue and Netflix will have sound.

If this still does not work, disconnect your modem and router for 30 seconds, reset the device you are using to stream Netflix, and reset or restart your TV. If you have surround sound connected to your TV and you hear no sound when streaming Netflix, go into the settings of your surround sound component and change the setting to anything but 5.

By changing the audio setting to something besides 5. If Best Quality Available does not fix the problem, select the Stereo audio setting. This should fix the issue with Neflix not getting sound and you will now be able to hear sound from your Apple device.
